About me

Prakashan Puthur is a distinguished Indian artist whose large-scale paintings and bronze sculptures occupy a rare space where ancient tradition breathes with urgent, contemporary life. Born in 1975 in the lush coastal heartland of Kerala, he came of age as both an observer and interpreter of his surroundings - translating the socio-political textures of his home state into a visual language that was modern, abstracted, and unmistakably his own.
But the truest artists are rarely contained by a single geography of the soul. As his vision deepened and wandered, Prakashan found himself drawn into the blazing colours, living rhythms, and intricate storytelling of Rajasthan - a culture that seemed to hold centuries of beauty in every pigment and pattern. The encounter was transformative. The delicate discipline of Rajasthani miniature painting seeped into his consciousness and reordered it, gifting his work an entirely new dimension: one where the intimate and the monumental, the mythic and the botanical, exist in seamless conversation.

Today, Prakashan is celebrated for compositions that feel like visual poems - intricate arrangements of flora, fauna, and mythological imagery that shimmer with a sense of timelessness. There is a quality to his work that is difficult to name but impossible to miss: the feeling that you are looking at something simultaneously ancient and newly discovered, as though the paintings have always existed and he has simply had the grace to find them.
His formal grounding is as layered as his art. A degree from the School of Arts - Institute of Fine Arts in Thalasseri, Kannur, provided the disciplinary rigour of a trained visual artist; a Master's degree in Malayalam Literature added something rarer still an intimacy with narrative, symbol, and the cadence of human storytelling. Together, these twin disciplines infuse his canvases with a depth that rewards long looking.
His work has travelled far. Exhibitions across India and on international stages in Kuwait and Oman have brought his vision to discerning audiences well beyond his home shores, earning him numerous prestigious awards and the sustained admiration of collectors and critics alike.
